Cordyceps sinensis
(Chinese caterpillar mushroom)

Cordyceps is inedible. It’s a parasite that grows out of a caterpillar. Its complex cultivation is used exclusively for medicinal purposes. It works as a strong antibiotic, stopping the growth of clostridium species without disturbing the bifidobacterium and lacto bacillus.

It stimulates the liver metabolism and reduces LDL and VLDL cholesterol.

Cordycepin, ophicordin and galactomannan are the active components that are effective as: immune system booster, anti-tumour as well as an anti-bacterial.

The activity of natural killer cells is increased, macrophages are stimulated and the complete immune system is being boosted. Through bile stasis liver fibrosis can be prevented.

In traditional Chinese medicine Cordyceps is given the properties of strengthening the lungs and kidneys and attenuation of the “Qi” and “Yang”. It calms emotions and eliminates phlegm.
